OER Description

In this lecture (4 out of 6), Professor Dyson describes his research methodologies for exploring young people’s experiences of sickle cell in schools, and the use of mixed approaches. These included a questionnaire with over 500 respondents, and 40 in-depth interviews. These hugely insightful pieces of research provide an understanding not just of the experiences of children at school, but their peers and adults around them. The concept of ‘disclosure’ and the feelings for and against disclosing the condition are also examined here for the first time.
